The Hugs for Brady Foundation‘s mission is helping kids with cancer one hug at a time.
Founded by Sherrie and Michael Wells whose son Brady died of childhood cancer in 2010, Hugs for Brady raises funds to support research, to assist families for whom financial burdens of medical care are overwhelming, and to make children’s frequent extended hospitalizations a little less scary. Along the way, through a variety of community events, they raise public awareness of childhood cancer and how ordinary people can help.
For several years, Hugs for Brady had been using a canned theme they bought from a theme vendor. But over the years, as the organization grew, they found that the capabilities of their website were being limited. The theme began to conflict with other operations Hugs for Brady required for outreach on the web. Then, in early 2017, the theme vendor terminated support for their original theme.
Hugs for Brady turned to one of our design partners, Digital Canvas, LLC, to find out how they could rebrand their website and move past the technical blocks they were encountering.
Digital Canvas, in turn, reached out to iCaspar Web Development to bring the new design to life on the web. The new site is mobile friendly, allows for on-line volunteer sign-ups for events, and finally provides a reliable way for the organization to raise money for its Brady Buggy Wagon program, among other fundraisers. Because the site is now running on efficient custom coded software, the site loads faster, is more search engine friendly, and commonly used branding styles are built in, making it easier for staff to maintain brand consistency when updating content.
Children fighting cancer are comforted; their families get financial help and emotional support; the community comes together; and research for a cure moves forward.
